Speaker Bio: Samuel Díaz-Muñoz, Ph.D.

Sam Díaz-Muñoz is an Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at UC Davis who studies the social lives of viruses. His research focuses on the evolution, ecology, and molecular mechanisms of virus-virus interactions using genomics, experimental evolution, and environmental microbiology. He received his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley and postdoctoral training at the University of California, San Diego. Prior to UC Davis, he was a Faculty Fellow at New York University. His outreach efforts include Ciencia Puerto Rico, a non-profit promoting science education, outreach, research, and careers in Puerto Rico and among Latinos in the U.S. More information about his research can be found at http://samdiazmunoz.org
